How do I cancel Apple subscriptions on Android?

Even though Apple subscriptions are purchased on iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad, many of them can be managed and cancelled directly from your Android device. When you originally signed up for an Apple subscription on an iPhone or iPad, you likely used your Apple ID. This same Apple ID can be used to access those subscriptions through the App Store on an Android device. From there, you can view, manage, and cancel your subscriptions that were started on iOS. This allows seamless access between iOS and Android to control your subscriptions, even if you’ve switched devices or platforms.

Locate Your Apple ID

You will need to sign in with your Apple ID to manage subscriptions. If you’ve forgotten your Apple ID, you can recover it by following these steps:

On your Android device, open the App Store application and tap on your profile icon in the top right. Then tap “View Apple ID”. This will take you to the Apple account management page.

If you don’t remember your password, tap “Forgot Apple ID or password?” and follow the prompts to reset it. You can also visit https://iforgot.apple.com/ to reset your password.

If you’ve forgotten which email address is associated with your Apple ID, try signing in with any emails you’ve used with Apple. You can also call Apple Support to help recover your Apple ID.

Once you’ve regained access to your account, you can view your Apple ID by going to Settings > iTunes & App Store on an iOS device. On Android, check the App Store app profile page.

Open App Store on Android

The Apple App Store app allows you to view and manage your Apple subscriptions directly on your Android device. While you can’t download iOS apps on Android, you can still use the App Store app to subscribe, cancel subscriptions, and manage your account.

To get started, you’ll first need to download the App Store app on your Android device:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app on your Android phone or tablet.
  2. Search for “App Store”. The app you want is published by Apple.
  3. Tap “Install” to download the official App Store app.
  4. Once installed, open the App Store app.

You can now use your Apple ID to sign in to the App Store on your Android device and view, update, or cancel your subscriptions.

Sign in to App Store

To manage and cancel your Apple subscriptions purchased through the App Store on Android, you need to sign in to the App Store with your Apple ID. This is the same Apple ID you use for purchases on iPhone and other Apple devices.

On your Android device, open the App Store app. Tap on your profile icon in the top right corner. This will open up the account and sign in screen.

Enter your Apple ID and password to sign in. If prompted, you may need to complete two-factor authentication by entering a verification code sent to one of your trusted devices or phone numbers.

As per Apple’s support article, two-factor authentication provides an extra layer of security for your Apple ID and is required for certain account types at Apple’s discretion. If you run into any issues with two-factor authentication, you can get help from Apple’s support forums.

View Your Subscriptions

Once signed in to the App Store on your Android device, you can view all of your active Apple subscriptions. To find your subscriptions, tap on your profile icon in the top right corner of the App Store.

This will bring up a menu where you should see an option called ‘Subscriptions.’ Tap on ‘Subscriptions’ and it will display a list of all your currently active Apple subscriptions across any devices linked to your Apple ID.

From this ‘Subscriptions’ section you can see details on each subscription including the subscription name, billing date, price, and an option to ‘Cancel Subscription.’ This makes it easy to identify and manage any subscriptions you want to cancel from your Android device.

Cancel a Subscription

To cancel a specific subscription on your Android device:

  3. Under ‘Active Subscriptions’, find the subscription you want to cancel and tap on it.

  5. Confirm the cancellation by tapping ‘Confirm’ on the pop-up message.

This will immediately cancel the subscription so you will no longer be charged for it on your next billing date. The subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

Unsubscribe from Newsletters

Some Apple subscriptions are for newsletters and other marketing emails rather than services. To stop receiving these emails, you’ll need to locate the unsubscribe link within the message and click it. Here are the steps:

  1. Open your email inbox and locate a message from Apple.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the message and look for a link that says “Unsubscribe” or “Manage Your Subscriptions.” This is typically in small text near the copyright notice.
  3. Click the unsubscribe link. This will open a web page on Apple’s site.
  4. Confirm that you want to unsubscribe by clicking the “Unsubscribe” or “Yes, unsubscribe” button on the page.

You should stop receiving that particular mailing after unsubscribing. Note that you may need to repeat this process for each different Apple newsletter individually.

Alternative Cancellation Methods

If you don’t have access to your Android device or the App Store, there are a couple other ways you can cancel Apple subscriptions:

  • On iPhone – You can cancel subscriptions directly through the App Store on your iPhone. Open the App Store app, tap your profile icon, go to Subscriptions and tap Cancel on any active subscriptions you want to end.
  • Via iTunes – Sign in to your Apple ID on a computer through iTunes. Go to Account > View My Account and select Manage under Subscriptions, then click Edit next to the subscription and choose Cancel Subscription.

These provide easy options to cancel Apple subscriptions if you can’t do it on your Android device for any reason. As long as you use the same Apple ID, you can manage your subscriptions through the App Store on any iOS device or on iTunes.

Get Refund for Cancellation

When you cancel an Apple subscription purchased through your Android device, you may be eligible for a refund depending on Apple’s refund policy for that subscription service. Here are some key points on getting refunds for cancelled Apple subscriptions:

Apple has a general policy of no refunds for purchases made through the App Store. However, refunds may be issued in certain cases if the request is made within 3 days of the transaction. For recurring subscriptions, a refund can be issued for the most recent payment.

To request a refund, you need to contact Apple Support directly either through live chat or by calling them. Explain that you cancelled an Apple subscription on your Android device and want a refund for the remaining subscription period.

Provide details like your Apple ID, the subscription name, date of cancellation, and time remaining in the billing cycle. Apple will review your account and may issue refunds on a case-by-case basis.

Refunds are more likely to be approved if there were technical issues that prevented you from using the subscription, versus simply changing your mind. Make your case clearly when requesting the refund.

For some subscriptions like Apple Music, you can directly manage and cancel the renewal within your Android app’s settings. Check the app first before requesting a refund from Apple.

If the request is denied, ask for an explanation from Apple as to why the refund cannot be processed. But in most cases for voluntary cancellation, refunds are not provided.

As an alternative, you can turn off auto-renewal for the subscription so it does not renew at the next billing cycle. But you will not be refunded for the current period.
